ESCALATOR aims to support the development of an active and inclusive community of practice in Digital Humanities and Computational Social Sciences in South Africa.

The Carpentries
Data, Library and Software Carpentry, aim to teach essential computing and data skills to research communities. We exist because the skills needed to do computational, data-intensive research are not offered as basic research training at most universities.
We facilitate two-day in-person and five half-days online workshops that introduce best practices around programming and data analysis to staff and students (i.e. researchers and library and information-related communities). SADiLaR funds workshops aimed at learners in the Social Science and Humanities disciplines; please contact [email protected] for more information.
As of November 2021, The Carpentries has taught more than 83 000 learners around the world. The Carpentries has run more than 150 workshops in 11 African countries. With more than 85 member organisations worldwide, The Carpentries will help you develop a skilled community of researchers who can adapt to the rapidly changing digital skills landscape.
